7 reasons to apply to our school

1.KNOWLEDGE & CREATIVITY
We teach the film skills and give solid foundations for various types of filmmaking professions. Coonseqently, studies are based on intensive practice: acquiring experience on the film-set, learning the ropes, as well as the artistic and technical sides of the cinemawork. At the same time, we offer students an intensive broadening of their intellectual horizons and deepening of their knowledge of culture in a broad sense. Both theoretic and practical parts of the tuition programme serve to develop creativity, imagination and bold thinking without conforming to established patterns.
2.DEVELOPMENT
The time of the studies is also a time of artistic innitiation, learning about oneself and the world. The young people studying film directing, direction of photography, acting, screenwriting, film production organization management, animation and special effects, photography, or editing develop their sensitivity, talent, and individuality. They get a chance to try out unconventional approaches, take risks and make mistakes. While making their own films the students themselves search for meaning and the form most suitable to express it.

Our outstanding graduates: Munk, Wajda, Polański, Kutz, Karabasz, Zanussi, Kieślowski, Piwowski, Królikiewicz, Marczewski, Łoziński, Koterski, Bajon, Gliński, Machulski, Kolski, Bławut, Kędzierzawska, Grzegorzek, Pasikowski, Trzaskalski, Szumowska, Fabicki, Dawid, Sobociński, Holender, Idziak, Rybczyński, Ptak, Lenczewski, Edelman, Dylewska, Gajos, Wrocławski, Zamachowski, Malajkat, have been professionally successful in Poland and abroad. Many of them have returned to the school where they work as lecturers teaching new generations and supporting future filmmakers within the scope of a master-apprentice relationship.
4.MODERNITY
We provide future filmmakers with the most modern equipment including digital cameras as well as lighting and sound equipment. Our studios with their modern facilities including computer classrooms for post-production and special effects are used for everyday practical skill classes. We endeavour to keep up-to-date with each technical innovation as it appears in the world of contemporary film technology. Each year, we buy new equipment and supplement the facilities. We teach new media being convinced that they are a great tool for describing the world.
5.PROFESSIONALISM
During film direction, or direction of photography courses each student makes 6 film projects: fiction and documentary. What differentiates the Lodz Film School from others is the possibility of working with established professional 35mm film stock. Experienced and professional staff of the School Film Production Unit support the young filmmakers by organizing and carrying out the production of about 300 film projects a year. . All areas of film production work in units: camera equipment, sound, editing, scenery, props and set design, and are all involved in the making of every film from the shooting stage to the production of the final print.
6.PROMOTION
The films of our students are present at all Polish and international festivals winning prizes at many of them. And it is not only Gdynia or Cracow, but also Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Oberhausen, Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy, Poitiers, Los Angeles, Toronto, Moscow, Karlovy Vary, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei, to name a few, which are the arenas for success of the young, talented students from Lodz. The Lodz Film School is one of the most widely recognized film schools in the world. The school itself organizes two festivals: ‘Łodzią po Wiśle’, Lodz Film School Student Film Festival which runs in Warsaw and abroad, and the ‘Drama Schools’ Festival. We also run sales and distribution of the student films.
7.PASS TO THE WORLD
Lodz is a ‘port’, where young filmmakers from all over the world anchor for the period of their studies. In the teaching programmes we put emphasis on openness, ideas and the flow of creative energy between representatives of various cultures and followers of different views on life and cinema. There are no language barriers at the Lodz Film School and the only pass to this exclusive artist association is talent and passion for creation, supported by professional preparation for filmmaking.
