Just a few days ago, on 13 December, we all gathered at the Lodz Film School where Kazimierz Kutz was granted the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa of our school. Unable to be with us in person the great director spoke from the screen and the school was filled with the stills from his unforgetable films on that day.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Kazimierz Kutz, today.

Film and theatre director, screenwriter, born in Szopienice in Silesia. One of the first and the most outstanding graduates of our school. Contributed to the international success of the Polish School of Film in the history of Polish cinema. Created a Silesian film trilogy – the “mass” devoted to Silesia, which was so close to his heart. Emphatically and accurately captivated the reality surrounding him.

Kazimierz Kutz has died today, 18 December, at the age of 89.
