The members of the Polish Society of Cinematographers have granted their awards. Our graduate and lecturer, Ryszard Lenczewski, received the Life Achievement Award.

RYSZARD LENCZEWSKI
Cinematographer, film arts professor, academic lecturer, member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In 1974, he graduated from the Cinematography Department of the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź. In 2005, he obtained a PhD degree in film art, and on October 7, 2010, he was awarded the academic title of professor.
Professionally, he is associated with the Lodz Film School, where he rose to the position of full professor. From 2008–2014, he was Deputy Dean of the Cinematography Department of the Lodz Film School. He obtained membership in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the European Film Academy and since 2015, the American Academy of Film Arts and Sciences. He started working in the film industry as a cinematographer for student and documentary films. In later years, he collaborated with such directors as Bogdan Dziworski, Jerzy Domaradzki, Lech Majewski, Janusz Morgenstern, Tadeusz Junak, Laco Adamik, Andrzej Barański, Juliusz Machulski, Izabella Cywińska, Zbigniew Kamiński, Wiesław Saniewski, Grzegorz Królikiewicz, Ryszard Ber, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jacek Bromski, John Crowley, Paweł Pawlikowski, Uri Barbash, Kenneth Lonergan, Rowan Joffé, Joe Wright, Charles Beeson and others.
In 1980, he received an award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdańsk for cinematography in the film "Palace". In 1997, he was awarded by BAFTA Wales for "War Bride", and in 2001, nominated for the British Film Academy Award for the miniseries "Anna Karenina". However, "Summer of Love" earned him a nomination for the European Film Award. In 2004, he was awarded the British Academy Television Award in the category of cinematography and lighting for the film "Charles II: The Power & The Passion". In 2013, he worked with Łukasz Żal on the award-winning film "Ida", for which both cinematographers were honoured, among others, with nominations for Oscar in the category "Best Cinematography" and the British Film Academy Award, as well as the European Film Award, the award for cinematography at the Gdynia Film Festival, awards at the festivals in Minsk and Bucharest, the Golden Frog at Camerimage and the nomination for the Eagle. Ryszard Lenczewski also received a Spotlight Award for the film from the American Society of Cinematographers.
He was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis (2013). He has been a member of the American Film Academy since 2015. In the same year, he received the "Golden Camera 300" Lifetime Achievement Award at the "Manaki Brothers" International Cinematographers Festival in Bitola, Macedonia.
