The VR project "NOCCC", produced in the VR / AR Laboratory of Visual Narratives vnLAB of the Łódź Film School, is included in the programme of the 21st New Horizons International Film Festival.

This year's edition of the festival is accompanied by the slogan "cinema from scratch": it is an invitation to return to festival life and a harbinger of new film phenomena. Noccc perfectly reflects the revitalizing power of cinema. A unique space of experience awaits audiences – a kinetic and sensory set designed especially for the Polish premiere by Magda Major from the Paper Heroes studio. https://www.studiopaperheroes.com/

The presentations in Wrocław will be the Polish premiere of the project that has been selected so far, by the festivals: goEast in Wiesbaden, MIFF, VR Pavilion as part of the Resilienze Festival in Bologna and the American Sundance and Cinequest. In October, you will also be able to see "Noccc" at its Warsaw premiere at the Przemiany festival organized by the Copernicus Science Centre.

"Noccc" is a virtual erotic poem written and directed by Weronika Lewandowska and Sandra Frydrysiak. The artists were inspired to create the piece by a research project devoted to the perception of dance and movement in virtual reality, which they carried out together.

“Noccc is a very sensual and embodied poetry experience” , admits Lewandowska. “We decided to offer the audience immersion in the sound structures of the Polish language. We designed interactions with the poem, which thanks to the movement of hands in VR, allow the immersed person to "play" on the voice layer”, she adds.

“In "Noccc" we also meet a dancing character who invites us to explore virtual space, developing kinesthetic empathy at the same time”, explains Frydrysiak. “We intuitively reciprocate the movements of the characters, and when we activate our bodies, the level of immersion in VR increases, there is scientific evidence for this”, - adds the researcher.

The presentations will take place at Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe in Wrocław on August 13-22, 2021.

Tickets for the show can be purchased via the festival website or at the box office of the Nowe Horyzonty cinema.
