The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, bestowed honours to academic teachers as well as science and art workers. This noble group includes our Professor Izabela Łapińska.

Prof. Izabela Łapińska, artist photographer and film expert.

In art, she touches upon the issue of the body in culture. In addition to photography, she writes about photography and film with an emphasis on topics related to eroticism, the ugliness of the body, abuse and exclusion in art.

A graduate of an art high school in Łódź. In 1996, she obtained a bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Cinematography and Television Production at the Lodz Film School. In 2001, she graduated with a master's degree in culture studies, specializing in film studies at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Łódź. She obtained her doctorate (2008) and PhD degree (2011) in the field of film art in the specialization of photography at the Lodz Film School.

Since 2020, she has been an art professor, and an academic teacher since 2005. She is currently associated with the Film Art Organization Department of the Lodz Film School. From 2012–2020 she was the vice-dean for education. Currently, she is the dean's plenipotentiary for science and artistic creativity (term 2020–2024).

In 1996, she was invited to Paris by French photographer Jeanloup Sieff, with whom she remained in contact until his death. He had a significant impact on the artistic career of Izabela Łapińska. She is the author of photo projects presented in galleries and museums, including: Details of the Female Body, Sensuality, Film Defect of Loneliness, Naked Face, Walking in the City, Clinical Image, Merystem, Biopsy, Autopsy, Memory Trace. Exhibitions were carried out by, among others in: Ancien Cinema (Luxembourg), Center Culturel de Recontre Abbaye de Neumünster (Luxembourg), Das Kreismuseum Bogenberg (Germany), Wozownia Art Gallery in Toruń, Mazovian Culture and Art Centre - XX1 Gallery in Warsaw, Imaginarium Gallery in Łódź, Film Museum in Łódź, the National Museum in Gdańsk ("Design versus Art" exhibition).

Her photographs have received awards at international competitions. She received, among others the Silver Award at BIFA (Budapest International Photo Awards), third place in the Julia Margaret Cameron Award competition in the "Portrait" category, Silver Award in the MIFA competition (Moscow International Photo Awards) in the "Nature-Flower / Professional" category.

Her achievements include numerous photographic publications in magazines such as: Belgian "Objectif", French "PHOTO", as well as "Camera Obscura", "Format", "Pozytyw" and "Akademia".

The artist is a member of the "zeroplus" group from Łódź.
