Deep in the backwoods of the Romanian Danube Delta lies an unusual place - the Valley of Tears. It was so named because of the dramatic history of its unique inhabitants. One hundred percent of the population of the Valley of Tears were lepers sent there from all over the country. Torn overnight from their family homes, isolated from the rest of society, marked with the indelible stigma of "devil's children", they were deprived of their dignity and hope in one fell swoop. They would also officially cease to exist, because the Valley of Tears was removed from the maps of the world, pretending that there was no such place at all. Today, only 12 inhabitants live in this last European leper village, once inhabited by several hundred people. More are dying every year. When the last one dies, the Valley of Tears will disappear from the maps again. This time - forever….
We invite you to the screenings!
