It has been known for a long time that animation and Łódź are closely related. Therefore, as part of ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, we'll show some animated films, co-produced by EC1 Łódź City of Culture

In 2022, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Łódź Film Fund, thanks to which many animated films have been produced. The long and rich history of the Polish animated film industry has its roots in Łódź and throughout the years, two Oscar winning short animated films were produced here, “Tango” by Zbigniew Rybczyński (Oscar in 1983), and the Polish-British coproduction “Peter and the Wolf” by Suzie Templeton (Oscar in 2007).

On the occasion of the LFF jubilee, there will be screenings of selected animated films co-produced by EC1 Łódź - City of Culture, on 6 and 7, November, at 19:30 in the Rectorate Building of the Lodz Film School in Łódź.

The partners of the event are ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum and the Film School in Łódź.

The screenings will be accompanied by meetings with filmmakers and producers who will tell the participants about the process of making an animated film and share their experience of working on individual films.

As part of the review, you will be able to see short films created using various techniques from classical drawings, through a painterly treated fairy tale, collage cut-out or 2-D computer animation, to stop-motion puppet animation.

Most of the films were made in Łódź animation studios, such as WJTeam / Likaon, Lava Films, Anima-Pol and Yellow Tapir. Undoubtedly, artists from Lodz have made an unquestionable contribution to the films at various stages of their making, as screenwriters, directors, animators, post-production specialists, set-designers, puppets and art designers.

Many of the presented films have won awards at film festivals in Poland and abroad.
