Big nonsense or an innocent lie? Is Gombrowicz prosaic or dramatic? Whatever ideas come to your mind, don't draw any pre-mature conclusions.
We invite you to the first diploma play of the Acting Department students in the 2022/2023 season - NO PRE-MATURE CONCLUSIONS, directed by Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik, based on the short stories by Witold Gombrowicz: "On the kitchen stairs", "Virginity", "Premeditated crime".

Hypocrisy and lying are components of any culture and create an atmosphere that people living in all societies breathe. In the stories published in the 1930s, Witold Gombrowicz looks at various manifestations of social hypocrisy. Gombrowicz was also absorbed in these issues in later years. In 1953, he wrote in his Diary: "Secret diseases only heal through disclosure." The "secret diseases" affecting our society in the 20s of the 21st century are the same diseases that Gombrowicz had in mind. That is why reading the stories "On the Kitchen Stairs", "Virginity" and "Premeditated Crime" is still an interesting activity. Our stage adaptation combines the plots and characters of these three stories into one new whole. At the same time, while creating this whole, we are faithful to the prose of Witold Gombrowicz. What is new is created by combining elements from the three stories, but does not contain ingredients that are absent in Gombrowicz’s writing. If we go beyond Gombrowicz, it is because we start with his prose and end up with theatre and the experience of both the actor and the spectator specific to the theatre.
Finally, we would like to ask both viewers and actors not to draw ANY PRE-MATURE CONCLUSIONS.
