Half a century ago, an avant-garde group of artists, Workshop of the Film Form, operated at the Lodz Film School. The group, operating in the years 1970-1977, carried out experimental and unrestricted activities in the field of film art, photography, the relationship between image and sound, constituting an important prelude to today's activities in media art.

"Triple axis" is another (after the Warsaw one) edition of the Audio-Visual Workshop where Aleksandra Chciuk, Filip Gabriel Pudło and Bartłomiej Talaga in their performances set three axes of sensitivity, wanting to remind about the experimental and multimedia nature of the Film School, at the same time inviting to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its existence and the 30th anniversary of the Photography faculty, where they studied. Without the activities of the Film Form Workshop, photography would not have been recognized as a separate, important scientific field. To this day, the Faculty of Photography educates and develops excellent photographers as well as multimedia artists. It is, above all, a space of freedom of images, which, unconstrained by their two-dimensionality, expand into the spaces of: moving images, virtual realities, sound and performative gestures.

About TRIPLE AXIS performances

Aleksandra Chciuk – an original concert of organic concrete music on small video objects

Aleksandra Chciuk – visual and sound artist. She graduated with honours from the Film School in Łódź with a theoretical thesis on experimental cinema by Maya Deren, and films that were made under the supervision of Prof. Józef Robakowski. In her installations and video works, she focuses on bringing closer the phenomenon of the relationship between sound and image in the organic nature of phenomena, and her performative audiovisual experiments often have an immersive and intimate dimension. She also works on site-specific interactive sound objects. She conducts numerous workshops in the city space, using, for example, its architecture in acoustic transformations and treating it as a music score. Strongly associated with the contemporary music community. She co-created the artistic collective Rumory Orchestra together with sound artists, e.g. Gerard Lebik, Maciej Ozog, Marcin Pryt. She creates an artistic duo with the composer Kuba Krzewiński. As part of the Audiosfera Studio, which she runs at the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, she founded Kolektyw Pełnia.

Bartłomiej Talaga – modular synthesizers with improvisation providing sound for selected video works, among others by: Ewa Ciechanowska, Hubert Humka, Szymon Kobusiński.

Multimedia artist, assistant professor at the Photography Faculty of the Lodz Film School. In his work he uses photography, sound, video and installation. His exhibitions are site-specific. His artistic work is closely related to technology, experiment and the search for adequate means of expression to communicate the experienced content. He is interested in the interpenetration of arts where sound, image and space can provoke impulses, exchange experiences and learn from each other.

Filip Gabriel Pudło – synthesizers, generative audiovisual performance with live music
