For the first time our VR projects are present at the Krakow Film Festival. The three projects: SELF, UMARŁE MIASTO and PRZESTRZEŃ ZAMKNIĘTA, come from our vnLab which is a partner of the review.

“For the first time at the Krakow Film Festival, we present Virtual Reality film projects which have been appreciated internationally”, announce the curators, and we are rubbing our hands, because this year's festival-goers of the KFF will experience three of our projects from the Visual Narrative Laboratory:

NIGHTSSS, dir. Weronika Lewandowska, Sandra Frydrysiak
VR piece Nightsss is a virtual erotic poem. A few minutes of artistic animation with ASMR and interactive elements immerses the viewer in the sensual experience of poetry and dance. Nightsss’s script was based on a piece of the spoken word poet Weronika Lewandowska. The artist uses sounds characteristic of the Polish language, creating onomatopoeic landscapes that cross language barriers. The spatially composed poet’s voice takes the immersant to a virtual night environment in which one meets a dancing character. The dancer’s organic movements blend with her virtual body.

CLOSE, dir. Hana Umeda
"Close” is an attempt to face the ambiguous position of the traditional Japanese jiutamai dance practiced today. By creating the effect of intimate closeness and giving the dancer / heroine the voice, Hana Umeda attempts to regain recognition, both for herself and for the entire multi-generational community of jiutamai dancers.

SELF, dir. Patryk Jordanowicz, Tadeusz Chudy
How does a mentally ill person feel? How does he/she see the world? Or maybe the division into healthy and mentally ill people does not exist at all? For the creators of the project, the interest in creating a photographic and film image has been going hand in hand with openness and an attempt to understand the world of mental issues for years.

DEAD CITY, dir. Krzysztof Grudziński
"Dead City" is a narrative with elements of singing, contemporary and operatic music, based on the poetic text of Erich Wolfgang Korngold's libretto of the same title.
