The Main Award in the documentary category for a documentary film by our lecturers - director and screenwriter Jarosław Wszędybył and producer Przemysław Miękinia.

The South East European Film Festival is one of the most important events focused on presenting the best films from 15 countries of South-Eastern Europe (including Greece, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Hungary and countries of the former Yugoslavia) to viewers in three world metropolises – Paris, Berlin and Washington.

The films presented as part of the festival competitions are evaluated by 3 separate juries headed by the most important jury - the European Jury.
This year, the European Jury included: the outstanding Macedonian philologist, professor of the French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Cultures, Frosa Pejoska-Bouchereau (as chairperson); Serbian producer, distributor, head of one of the most important distribution companies in the Balkans, MCF MegaCom Film, Igor Stanković; philosopher, writer, human rights defender, president of the ONG CNRJ, non-governmental organization dealing with youth issues active since 1901 currently in 23 countries around the world, Frederic Fappani von Lothringen; and the famous French traveller and photographer Yves Rousselet.

This prestigious international jury decided that the best documentary film of the 13th edition of the South East European Film Festival, honoured with the European Jury's Main Prize, was ex aequo: representing Romania, THE END OF THE WORLD IN THE VALLEY OF TEARS directed by Jarosław Wszędybył and the Croatian "Seaside Promenade" directed by Silvio Mirošničenko. Let us remind you that "The End of the World in the Valley of Tears", a film about the last European leper village in Romania, is a Polish-Romanian co-production. Its Polish producer is the company Before My Eyes of our lecturer Przemysław Miękinia, and the Romanian producer is Parada Film, behind which are Oana Iancu and the winner of the Berlin Golden Bear for the film "Position of the Child", Calin Peter Netzer.

The award at the South East European Film Festival is yet another award for the film by Jarosław Wszędybył. Earlier, THE END OF THE WORLD IN THE VALLEY OF TEARS, which premiered at last year's New Horizons, was honoured with the Young Critics Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Man in Danger Media Festival.

Congratulations!
