Congratulations to our graduate, Mikołaj Szczęsny, director of the radio play "Post mortem. The story of Zofia Dwornik" whose heroine is an excellent editor and a graduate of directing at our School.
The radio play produced by the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź in cooperation with Radio Łódź won this year's edition of the TWO THEATRES Festival - the Festival of the Polish Radio Theatre and the Polish Television Theatre. According to the jury, the radio drama directed by Mikołaj Szczęsny was the best among the 19 radio dramas for adults qualified for the finals. Congratulations to all the drama’s creators!
The radio play tells the shocking story of Zofia Dwornik - a student of directing at our School, sentenced to prison in 1950 after being accused and then convicted of "spreading false news about the situation of the working class, the Katyn Massacre and the liberation of the eastern territories by the Red Army in September 1939". The artists Wadim Berestowski (later director of films for children) and Witold Żukowski (later screenwriter and director) contributed to her detention during her studies. After her release from prison, Zofia Dwornik passed the graduation exam, but she had no chance to work as a director. She became an excellent film editor and worked with the most outstanding directors. She was an editor of "The Noose" by W. J. Has, "The Doll" by W. J. Has, "Passenger" by A. Munk, "Through and Through" by G. Królikiewicz, or "The Promised Land" by Andrzej Wajda. In 1993, she was pardoned. She lived in Łódź until the end of her life, she died in 2002.
