The Lodz Film School Cinema invites you to film screenings in February. After the semester break, on Thursday evenings, cinema fans from Łódź will be able to see PASSAGES - an electrifying film about a love triangle with Ben Whishaw, OPPONENT - the Swedish candidate for the Oscar, and KOS - the loudest hit of Polish cinema, with the Golden Lion to its credit. The screening of Paweł Maślona's film is scheduled for 15, February. The screening will be followed by a meeting with screenwriter Michał A. Zieliński and actor Piotr Pack, which will be hosted by Agata Gwizdała. Students and seniors have free admission to the cinema, others pay a symbolic amount of PLN 10.

KOS / Screenwriter and actor about the film

KOS, directed by Paweł Maślona, is a story about Tadeusz Kościuszko, but not the one known from history books. The film was awarded Golden Lions at the 48th Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia, among other prizes. The atmosphere is tense in Poland in the spring of 1794. General Tadeusz "Kos" Kościuszko (Jacek Braciak) returns to the country and plans to start an uprising against the Russians, calling for the Polish nobility and peasants to take part in it. Kościuszko is accompanied by his loyal friend - formerly a slave, Domingo (Jason Mitchell). Paweł Maślona rejects the stereotypes of a school reading about the hero Kościuszko in favour of a Tarantino story in the spirit of Gombrowicz and Munk, and the director himself says that it is a film about a "broken community" that can be read today. The producer of the film is Aurum Film, a company known for producing titles such as CORPUS CHRISTI, THE LAST FAMILY, SO IT DOESN’T HURT. After the screening of the film, we invite you to a meeting with the filmmakers - Michał A. Zieliński - the originator and screenwriter of the film, and Piotr Pacek, our graduate, an actor playing the villain - Stanisław Duchnowski, Ignac's half-brother.

OPPONENT / Immigration Swedish way

The Swedish Oscar candidate, appreciated at the Berlinale, is a unique combination of a political thriller and a family drama at the epicentre of the immigration crisis. Iman, a talented Iranian wrestler, must flee his homeland. Together with his wife and children, he ends up in snow-covered Sweden, divided by the immigration crisis. To make matters worse, the difficult past and hidden secrets cannot be forgotten. Although everyday problems related to social status are still Iman's main concern, the struggle with his own identity also comes to the fore. OPONENT, premiering at the Berlinale, is the second feature-length film by Milad Alami, a director born in Iran, who, as a child, fled his homeland to Sweden with his parents.

PASSAGES / A love triangle with an all-star cast

PASSAGES is a film about contemporary relationships in an adult-only version. Multicultural Paris, with three lovers entangled in a risky game of desire. Stars of European cinema, Franz Rogowski and Ben Whishaw, made famous by the film PERFUME, and Adèle Exarchopoulos, known from BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR and THE FIVE DEVILS, create an erotic triangle in which sex and feelings produce an explosive mix in Ira Sachs's famous drama. As befits Paris, the revolution begins in a café. Filmmaker Tomas (Rogowski) celebrating the end of filming meets Agathe (Exarchopoulos). Without hesitation, he throws himself into a new passion, while his loyal, understanding husband Martin (Whishaw) is waiting for him at home. Seeking personal fulfilment and emotional excitement, all three explore their bodies, feelings and boundaries. Each of them will have to face questions they are not ready for - and do not want to face. Can passion go hand-in-hand with the wish to start a family? Do we create relationships out of love for someone or out of love for ourselves? An uncompromising film about a threesome and unbridled self-love that can destroy anyone who comes within its reach. PASSAGES is a bold but at the same time, funny and sensual look at contemporary relationships for viewers who are not afraid to look in the film mirror.

Admission to the screening at the Film School Cinema costs PLN 10 and is available only online via the website kino.filmschool.lodz.pl. The number of tickets is limited. School children, students and seniors have free admission upon presentation of their ID cards. The screenings take place in the Rectorate building at the National Film, Television and Theater School in Łódź, 61/63, Targowa street.
