We invite the school community to a special screening of Piotr Dumała's film FIN DEL MUNDO? and a meeting with the filmmakers on 6, March at 6.00 p.m. at the Film School Cinema.
The guests of the special presentation, which takes place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 will be the director of the film FIN DEL MUNDO? Piotr Dumała, our school lecturer Piotr Kukla, the film’s cinematographer and our lecturer Piotr Kukla, and Sebastian Ładyżyński, the composer of the musical score for the film. The event will be held in the School Cinema (1st floor of the Rectorate building). We invite students, lecturers and employees of our School to participate in the screening and meeting with the creators.
“FIN DEL MUNDO? is a comedy about death, i.e. a serious comedy or a psychological drama with a funny twist. One of my screenplay inspirations was Anton Chekhov's drama "Three Sisters" characterised by a premonition of the end of the world; tragic and comic simultaneously. In "Fin del Mundo?" I wanted to combine two opposing philosophical points of view on reality. Seeing half a glass full without ceasing to see half a glass empty. It is a film about the fear of death, but also the desire for death, about the longing for love but also about the love of loneliness, about the value of life in a multi-generational family, but also about the desire to become independent from it,” says the director,
Piotr Dumała, about the film. Piotr Dumała is a director, screenwriter, and set designer of animated and fiction films. A graduate of the Faculty of Conservation and Restauration of Art Works at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Full professor of film art, lecturer at our School, former visiting professor at Konstfack College of Art in Eksjo (Sweden) and visiting lecturer at Harvard University in Cambridge (USA). He has won over a hundred Polish and international awards for his film work. His achievements include such productions as: "Hippos", "Little Black Riding Hood", "Gentle", "Walls", "Freedom of the Leg", "Franz Kafka", "Forest" and "Elderly".
Piotr Dumała is also the author of posters, press and book illustrations, and comics. Poet, author of song lyrics and short stories. Inventor of the animation technique on plasterboards. He was awarded the silver and gold Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture, the Dragon of Dragons award at the Krakow Film Festival and the Luna de Valencia Lifetime Achievement Award at the Valencia International Film Festival.
Film synopsis: Valdi and his three sisters live in an old villa outside the city, and their hundred-year-old parents, who died a few years ago, occupy the basement. The whole family enjoys common meals and the warmth of home until Valdi discovers supernatural powers in him. Then, unexpected guests involve the family in a top-secret plan, forcing the deceased parents to start their relationship in the afterlife. The film alternately becomes a crime story, a melodrama, a western, and continues to be a comedy of the absurd that inevitably leads to the end of the world. But are you sure about it?
