* The best art cinema and a meeting with Oscar-winning producer Ewa Puszczyńska *
Original portraits of complex characters, Oscar-winning films and filmmakers awarded in Cannes ("The Zone of Interest") and at the Berlinale ("Afire"). In June, the School Cinema presents films which challenge viewers and engage them in psychological vivisections of film characters ("Monster"). On June 20, there will be a meeting with Ewa Puszczyńska, producer of Jonathan Glazer's "The Zone of Interest", the film which won her second Oscar. There will be a film for everyone, from young to old ("Robot Dreams"). * Ewa Puszczyńska, guest after the screening of "The Zone of Interest"
* Oscar-winning producer at the Film School Cinema!
Born in Łódź, international festival award-winning film producer, Ewa Puszczyńska, will visit the Film School Cinema on 20, June. "The Zone of Interest" is the latest, famous film by Jonathan Glazer, the director of "Under the Skin", which was highly acclaimed by film critics, but above all won excellent awards ranging from the Grand Prix in Cannes up to the Oscar for the Best International Film. The film has brought Ewa Puszczyńska her second Oscar following the one she received for "Ida" by Paweł Pawlikowski. The perspective imposed by Glazer in this film forces us to balance between the awareness of the gas chambers and the idyll of an ideal garden tended to the delight of the Auschwitz Commander Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel) by his wife (Sandra Hüller). Meeting the producer from Łódź, you will be able to learn about the process of making a difficult and demanding film about the genocide, in which the horror is only contextual, and also how the work on the original use of sound in "The Zone of Interest" was carried out.
* Award-winning films on the Film School Cinema screen *
"Monster" is an extremely engaging and sensitive story about children entering the world of adults. One of the most important coming-of-age titles, next to "Close" and "Turning Red". Hirokazu Kore-eda, director of such films as "Shoplifters" and "Baby Broker", tugs at your heartstrings. A touching and thought-provoking story from the provincial Japan with an extremely universal message was awarded the Palme d'Or at Cannes for the best screenplay. On a completely opposite spectrum is "Afire" by Christian Petzold, a thorough analysis of a young writer (Thomas Schubert), not devoid of distance and ecological context. While spending time on the Baltic coast, the author encounters problems with his friend (Langston Uibel), meets an attractive girl (Paula Beer) and is caught up in an apocalyptic forest fire. The film received the Grand Jury Prize at last year's Berlinale.
* A unique #comfort_movie about friendship *
As Filip Grzędowski, a member of the FKA Critics' Box, wrote: 'The age of the recipient does not matter in this beautiful story. That's one of the reasons why it's one of the best animated films of recent years." "The Dog and the Robot" is one of the most original animated films of the past season. It focuses on the fate of a Robot who goes straight from a store shelf to a lonely Dog. The friendship thus born is suddenly interrupted by a failure that forces separation. The adaptation of Sara Varon's comic book adapted for the screen by Pablo Berger ("Snow White", 2012) received an Oscar nomination and extremely favourable reviews from critics all over the world. Even though it is set in a world of anthropomorphized animals dotted with pastel lines, it is definitely a film for all ages to watch.
