The star of Wanda Zeman, our graduate and an excellent film editor, will be unveiled on 10, July (Wednesday) at 66, Piotrkowska Street at 3 p.m.

The National Centre for Film Culture (NCKF) invites you to the unveiling of Wanda Zeman's star in the Lodz Walk of Fame.

In 1987, Wanda Zeman graduated from the Higher Professional Film Editing Studies at the Lodz Film School. She was an excellent film editor and worked with the greatest Polish directors: Wojciech Jerzy Has, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Filip Bajon and Władysław Pasikowski. She had been awarded many times for the best editing with the Polish Film Award "Eagle" and at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.

This unique event will honour her enormous contribution to Polish Cinema.

10, July, Wednesday

3 p.m. - Wanda Zeman's star unveiling ceremony 66, Piotrkowska Street

3:30 - 4:15 - walk "In the footsteps of films made in the heart of Łódź" (route: Piotrkowska Street – NCKF)

5 p.m. – 8 p.m. - screening of the film PIGS; before the screening there will be a meeting with Wojciech Pacyna and Barbara Fronc (ODEON cinema hall, National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź, 1/3, Targowa, entrance from Hasa Street).

Wanda Zeman was born in Lublin on 7, April, 1952. However, she spent most of her life, including her professional life, in Łódź and then in Warsaw. She was a graduate of the Polish National Film School in Łódź, where in 1987, she completed the Extramural Professional Film Editing Studies. She made her debut much earlier - in 1976, when she edited (together with Jerzy Pękalski) the Polish-Czechoslovak action drama "Short Life", directed by Zbigniew Kuźmiński. Two years later, she collaborated on the editing of "Provincial Actors" by Agnieszka Holland.

During a career spanning almost 40 years, she edited over 100 feature films, documentaries, TV series and plays, as well as student films. They include: "Personal diary of a sinner written by himself" and "The extraordinary journey of Baltazar Kozer" (dir. Wojciech Jerzy Has), "The Magnate" and "Bal at the Koluszki Station" (dir. Filip Bajon), "Kornblumenblau" and "Cynga" (dir. Leszek Wosiewicz), "Pigs" and "Operation Samum" (dir. Władysław Pasikowski), "Sztos" and "E=mc²" (dir. Olaf Lubaszenko), "Pan Tadeusz" and "The Revenge" ( dir. Andrzej Wajda), "Persona non grata" (dir. Krzysztof Zanussi) and "A Few People, a Little Time" (dir. Andrzej Barański).

For television, she prepared, among others: the play "Casting Session" directed by Krzysztof Zanussi and also a popular series "Father Mateusz".

Wanda Zeman was nominated and awarded many times for the Best Editor with the most important Polish film awards. She won the laurels of the Polish Feature Film Festival three times ("Kornblumenblau", "Pigs", "Pigs 2. Last Blood"). She was also honoured three times with the Polish Film Award "Eagle" ("Pan Tadeusz", "Persona non grata", "A Few People, a Little Time").

The last film edited by Wanda Zeman was "Historia Roja" (directed by Jerzy Zalewski). The story about the commander of an anti-communist partisan unit had been in development since 2009, and premiered in 2016 - four years after the editor's death who died on 27, December, 2012 in Warsaw. She is buried in the Catholic part of the Old Cemetery at Ogrodowa Street in Łódź.

Wanda Zeman was a member of the European Film Academy, the Polish Film Academy and the Polish Association of Editors. She remains a role model and a master for the younger generation of editors.
