We invite you to an exhibition of works by photography students, realized as a result of the "Archive Photography" classes led by Marcela Paniak. Opening: 11, September, Pracownia Duży Pokój, Warsaw.
The exhibition of photographs by students of the Lodz Film School is organized in cooperation with graduates of the same faculty, co-running the Picture Doc Foundation in Warsaw.
TOMORROW WAS YESTERDAY
The authors examine the significance of photographic archives in the context of contemporary life and their role in shaping memory. Rejecting the linear narrative typical of timelines and chronology, they go beyond the traditional perception of recollections. Seeking new perspectives, they explored the significance of traces of the past, the process of their disappearance, as well as the possibilities and limitations of their reconstruction. In the presented works, the filter of fantasy fills the gaps in the perception of what was, influencing the interpretation and reception of what is and what is yet to come. Experiments combining traditional photography, often anonymous and found, with modern photographic techniques and contemporary canons and visual conventions create a field for creative development. This is a space for in-depth reflection on the power and mystery of time, which seems to be invariably relevant.
