An outstanding set designer and lecturer at our School from 1981-2015 has passed away at the age of 77. INFORMATION ABOUT FUNERAL CEREMONY
Janusz Sosnowski was a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. Professor of Fine Arts. Member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy (EFA). Lecturer at the Lodz Film School from 1981-2015.
Janusz Sosnowski was the creator of extraordinary, still delightful set designs for Juliusz Machulski's films "Seksmisja" (1983) and "Kingsajz" (1987). He collaborated with Ryszard Bugajski ("Przesłuchanie", 1982), Krzysztof Zanussi ("Rok spokojnego słońca", 1984), Andrzej Wajda ("Kronika wypadków miłosnych", 1985), Jerzy Skolimowski ("Ferdydurke", 1992), Jerzy Wójcik ("Wrota Europy", 1999) and Jerzy Kawalerowicz ("Quo vadis", 2001). He also designed sets for plays and theatre shows, including the cult "Metro" by Janusz Józefowicz. He was the set designer for all seasons of the popular television series "Ranczo" by Wojciech Adamczyk (2006-2016).
Two-time winner of the Polish Film Award EAGLE – for the art direction for the films "Wrota Europy" and "Quo vadis". He also received two awards at the Polish Feature Film Festival for the art direction for "Kingsajz" and "Seksmisja". He also received an award at the Brussels International Film Festival for the art direction for "Kingsajz".
We say farewell to an outstanding set designer and an excellent teacher.

The funeral ceremony will begin on 24, October at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home at the Powązki Military Cemetery (43/45, Powązkowska Street). At 2:30 p.m., the funeral procession will set off from Gate IV at Stare Powązki.
