Corneliu Porumboiu, Romanian director and screenwriter, will meet with the Film School community this Friday.
We invite you to the meeting, which will take place on Friday, 8, November, in the Film Hall, building Z, at 1p.m. – free admission.
Corneliu Porumboiu
Romanian film director and screenwriter. Representative of the new wave of Romanian cinema. He graduated in film directing from the National University of Theatre and Film Arts (UNATC) in Bucharest.
Author of short films – "Gone with the Wine" (2002) and "A Trip to the City" (2003, Second Prize at the Cinéfondation IFF in Cannes). He made his feature film debut with "12:08 East of Bucharest" (2006), which premiered at the 59th IFF in Cannes, where it won the Golden Camera for best directorial debut and the Label Europa Cinemas award. The film was also in the main competitions at the IFF in Locarno and the IFF in Karlovy Vary, and was nominated for the European Film Awards.
Porumboiu's next film, "Policeman, Adjective" (2009), was in the "Un Certain Regard" section of the 62nd Cannes IFF, where it received the Jury President's Award. In 2015 his film "The Treasure" was screened in the same section of the Cannes festival and won the "Un Certain Talent" award. Corneliu Porumboiu's latest film is "La Gomera" (2019), which secured the director's presence in the Main Competition at the 72nd Cannes IFF.
Corneliu Porumboiu was a jury member of the "Cinéfondation" student film section (now "La Cinef") of the 64th Cannes IFF (2011).
The director's visit is connected with the ROMANIAN CINEMA REVIEW at the National Centre for Film Culture - "Reconstructions. Romanian Film Review".
The screenings take place from 8 to 10, November.
