The upcoming encounter with a filmmaker from the National Centre for Film Culture series features our graduate, Michał Edelman and his films. It will be held on 22, January (Wed.) at the NCKF Cinema.
"In the original series PROMISING NAMES OF POLISH CINEMA, we present the hottest names of young Polish filmmakers who are on the threshold of their full-length debut or have just made their debut. During monthly meetings, we will present their selected films and after the screening, we will invite you to a discussion with the directors themselves," write the founders and organizers of the series.
Michał Edelman, our directing graduate will be the guest of the Promising Names of the Polish Cinema series organized by the National Centre for Film Culture.
The meeting will be held on 22, January (Wednesday) at 17.30 at the Urania Hall of the NCKF Cinema.
The audience will see two of his films: SERVICE – a fiction film, a diploma film produced by the Lodz Film School, and FRESHMAN – a documentary film created as part of the Munk Studio's "First Documentary" programme.
SERVICE won the Grand Prix at the last Warsaw Film Festival. FRESHMAN received the Best Short Film Award at the Docs Against Gravity festival.

Peter is always broke and fed up with it. By night, he is a star in an underground band, and by day he works as a waiter in a hotel restaurant. When the opportunity arises, he decides to sell drugs to one of the extremely wealthy guests, Joan. A wild night begins. During an exclusive company party, Peter is under enormous pressure, serving demanding customers, trying to calm down his constantly disgruntled boss, and finalizing a drug deal with Joan - all while hungover.
The film FRESHMAN is a two-year observation of fifteen-year-old Jędrek. Cut off from his family and loved ones, the boy is locked up in a reformatory. The teenager tries to find his way in this new, brutal environment. At first, he is weak and lonely, but finally he meets a friend - Wojtek. Together they mature in the facility which slowly becomes their home.
