Our graduate has a chance to win the American Society of Cinematographers SPOTLIGHT award for his DOP work on the film THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE by Magnus von Horn. Congratulations!
This year, the American Society of Cinematographers will present its awards for the 39th time. Among the nominees there is a graduate of the Cinematography and Television Production Department of our School - Michał Dymek, who was recognized for his cinematography in the film THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE directed by Magnus von Horn. The SPOTLIGHT category includes independent films without wide distribution in the USA. In addition to Michał Dymek, the members of the Society also recognized Jomo Fray for his cinematography in the film NICKEL BOYS and Klaus Kneist and Renata Mwende for their cinematography in the film NAWI.
The film THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE is a Danish-Polish-Swedish co-production and also the Danish Oscar candidate. Among the filmmakers who worked on it there are our graduates and lecturers. The film was directed by Magnus von Horn, our graduate and current lecturer at the Directing Department. Its producer is a graduate of film production and our lecturer - Mariusz Włodarski from Lava Films, the production manager is a graduate of the Film Art Organization Department - Luiza Skrzek, the cinematographer a graduate of the Cinematography Department - Michał Dymek. The film was edited by a graduate of the Editing Department - Agnieszka Glińska, and the film’s script consultant was our lecturer at the Directing Department - Andrzej Mellin.
So far, for his work as the DOP on Magnus von Horn's film, Michał Dymek received the Golden Frog, an award in the Main Competition at the CAMERIMAGE International Film Festival of Cinematographers, and an award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.
