4 DOGS, dir. Maciej Białoruski, fiction
Our lives are designed to last for the lifespan of four dogs. The first one, as it happens, dies while you are on holiday. The second one dies alone. You take the third one to the vet for a long time. You grow old together with the fourth. The film, which is a record of memories associated with each dog, was made on 8 mm, MiniDv, Super16 mm and CMOS Super 35 film. The film is based on a poem by Piotr Grobliński.
BEASTS AMONG US, dir. Natalia Durszewicz, animation
Set in a surreal world, a story about the reversal of the roles of prey and hunter.
I’M HERE, dir. Julia Orlik, animation
"I'm here!" the heroine would like to shout, but she is unable to even ask for a glass of water. Neither can she get up because the disease has confined her to bed and made her dependent on others. On the other hand, she can hear perfectly well everything her loved ones say about her condition. The everyday life of the elderly woman is documented by a motionless camera, pointed straight at her face. The other characters: her husband, daughter, grandchildren, doctor and priest are just a procession of legs appearing in the frame and a flow of sentences spoken in the background. A piercing story about loneliness in the face of death presented from the perspective of a dying woman although she does not say a word.
WE ARE NOT THERE TOMORROW, dir. Olga Kłyszewicz, animation Sometimes in life we meet someone who sees the world completely differently and is able to change our perspective. The characters in the film have such an experience when their paths unexpectedly cross.
THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST, dir. Szymon Ruczyński, animation
Since 2021, there has been a humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. People seeking refuge face systemic force executed by both countries.
