We invite you to the Szklarnia Gallery for an exhibition of works by lecturer at the Directing Dept., Piotr Kotlicki, inspired by the films of Wojciech Jerzy Has. The exhibition is open until 27 April
The exhibition accompanied the HAS’S LABYRINTH event organised on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Wojciech Jerzy Has.
Has's Common Room. In the paintings created by Piotr Kotlicki, we see selected frames from the rich filmography of Wojciech J. Has. Piotr paints and reinterprets frames which are particularly memorable to him and he has woven this series from his own ideas about characters, scenes and times. Sometimes he encloses all the elements in the frame of one painting.
Piotr Kotlicki (1972) is an artist associated with the Łódź community. In 2000, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, from the class of Prof. Ryszard Hunger. He currently lectures at the Lodz Film School. He works in the fields of fine art and experimental film. Piotr Kotlicki’s works have been exhibited at the Zachęta National Gallery in Warsaw (Poland), the Ningbo Museum of Art (China), the MS Dockville Festival in Hamburg (Germany), the 16th International Video Festival in Novi Sad (Serbia), the Drei Ringe gallery in Leipzig (Germany), the Nachtspeicher23 gallery in Hamburg (Germany), the Simultan Festival in Timisoara (Romania), the National Audiovisual Institute in Warsaw (Poland), the Assembly Gallery in Berlin (Germany), the Felix Frachon Gallery in Brussels (Belgium), the Pani Domu Gallery (Poland), the Olimpus Gallery in Łódź (Poland), and the Mediations Biennale in Poznań (Poland).
