Not only does it pay tribute to all the artists involved in making the film, but also to Polish cinema in general. The film had very good critical reviews in major American magazines. The film, "Ida"has placed itself high in all the ratings of possible candidates to the American Academy Awards. It is a film which is talked about and one that arouses emotions. "Ida"has already had distribution success in the US with box office receipts so far of 3,5 million USD, which means that the film has been seen by over 400,000 people. We have unanimously chosen Paweł Pawlikowski’s film, "Ida" as the Polish entry for the Oscar.
The international distribution of "Ida" turned out to be one of the greatest success stories in the history of Polish cinema.
