Michał Jankowski is making a film being a part of his PHD degree requirement. The film based on his own screenplay is entitled "Odysseus".
The film story was inspired by motifs from Greek myths of mermaids alluring and trapping sailors as well as 'Solaris' by Stanisław Lem. The main protagonist travels alone through space. In his dreams, he sees home, family and his beloved. He is desperate for human company. This craving puts him in danger connected with the planet – sea, an intelligent entity which reads the subconscious wishes of cosmic travellers.
The film is an enclosure to the doctorate dissertation realized under the supervision of Prof. Jacek Koprowicz. The research on "New forms of animation image stylistics based on combination of digital media" is being done by Michał Jankowski under the supervision of Prof. Elżbieta Protakiewicz, dean of Cinematography and Television Production Department.
The Film "Odysseus" is a co-production between the Lodz Film School, Film Fiction and Michał Jankowski.
