After Christopher Nolan’s "Interstellar" and before Sam Mendes’ "Spectre". The career of Hoyte van Hoytema, an ex-cinematography student of the Lodz Film School, is speeding up.

New Year is usually a time for looking back and summing up the achievements of the old year. The Lodz Film School was voted the second best school in the world in “The Hollywood Reporter” polls. The names of our school graduates, professors and students are often mentioned in the film press discussing their artistic success over the past year and announcing the most interesting film events coming up in 2015. One such is Hoyte van Hoytema, a Lodz Film School cinematography graduate, who has worked on productions of films made by famous directors. In his career Hoyte Van Hoytema has been nominated for The European Film Academy Award and the American Society of Cinematographers Award for photography for the film "Tinker tailor Soldier Spy" (starring: Gary Oldman).

Hoyte van Hoytema, who is Dutch, started his cinematography studies at the Lodz Film School in 1992. His career path has led him from Poland, through his homeland, the Netherlands, to finally reach Hollywood. He is one of the most valued cinematographers with whom the best directors wish to work. Hoyte Van Hoytema has worked as director of photography on the films “The Fighter” (starring: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale) directed by David O. Russel, and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” by Tomas Alfredson (starring: Gary Oldman). The fall of 2014 witnessed the premiere of the long-awaited Christopher Nolan film, “Interstellar”, one of the greatest science-fiction movies, starring Matthew McConaughey and Michael Cain, which was shot by Hoytema. Also in 2014, film goers had an opportunity to see the world created by Hoytema, where the main protagonist played by Joaquin Phoenix has a relationship with a virtual character, in the film “Her” directed by Spike Jonze. Everybody is looking forward to Hoytema’s next project which will be director of photography on the next Bond film “Spectre” to be directed by Sam Mendes like the previous Bond film "Skyfall".
