His large format photographs present subjects connected with youth, reconstruction of values and influence of technology on every day life. Visual conventions deriving from cinema, police archives, and classical painting constitute a map the artist follows. Bownik is the Poznan Fine Arts Academy graduate (at present the Arts University). His works are part of the collections at the Huis Marseille Museum for Photography in Amsterdam, the National Library, Polish Art Foundation ING and some private collections. He is a 2014"Polityka" Passport nominee.
