The Indeks Film Studio, which celebrates its 25th anniversary today, is preparing a new full-length film project. The Studio’s patron is Wojciech Jerzy Has.

The studio was founded on 1st, February, 1990, as a separate film production unit. The founder of the Studio was prof. Henryk Kluba, the Lodz Film School Rector at the time. Prof. Wojciech Jerzy Has, the initiator of the idea, was the first artistic director of the ”Indeks” studio for the first 10 years of its existence. It was him who wanted to create a professional film production environment to facilitate Lodz Film School graduates their debut in the industry.

Apart from diploma film production, the Studio was a place where full-length debut films of the most promising school graduates were made. The „Indeks” Studio produced the following films: „Diabły, diabły” by Dorota Kędzierzawska, „Czarne słońca” by Jerzy Zalewski, „Listopad” by Łukasz Karwowski, „Rozmowa z człowiekiem z szafy” by Mariusz Grzegorzek, „Podróż na wschód” by Stefan Chazbijewicz, „Deborah” by Ryszard Brylski, „Torowisko” by Urszula Urbaniak and „Szczęśliwy człowiek” by Małgorzata Szumowska.

In November, 2014, the Indeks Studio was transformed into a joint venture and its sole owner is the Lodz Film School. Its main aim is the continuation of the vision of its patron prof. Wojciech Jerzy Has.

The first project to be made within the new studio’s legal form will be a full length feature debut film of Jagoda Szelc, who is the winner of last year’s Wojciech Jerzy Has prize funded by Mrs Wanda Ziembicka-Has, professor’s widow.

Studio’s Programme Board consisting of the Lodz Film School lecturers: prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek, the Rector, Leszek Dawid, Andrzej Mellin, Gabriela Muskała, Dorota Ostrowska-Orlińska, Krzysztof Ptak and Mariusz Wilczyński, will choose the film projects of the most talented students and graduates to be made at the studio.
