An excellent cinematographer, a graduate of our school, its lecturer and our dear friend, Krzysztof Ptak, died on 19 August at the age of 62. The funeral will take place on Monday, 5 September.
Krzysztof Ptak’s funeral will take place at the Komunalny Doly Cemetery on Monday, 5 September at 2 p.m. It will be preceded by a mass at the Jesuits” Church in 60, Sienkiewicza Street at noon.
Krzysztof Ptak graduted from the Lodz Film School in 1979 where he studied cinematography. As his artistic debut he shot two documentaries "Olimpiada" and "Dwubój klasyczny" directed by Bohdan Dziworski. The first feature film he worked on as DOP was "Smak wody" by Leszek Wosiewicz. In his artistic career he worked with famous Polish film directors such as Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Krauze, Jan Jakub Kolski.
Among his rich filmography one can find the following titles: "300 mil do nieba" by Maciej Dejczer, "Panna Nikt" by Andrzej Wajda, "Historia kina w Popielawach" by Jan Jakub Kolski, "Weiser" by Wojciech Marczewski, "Edi" by Piotr Trzaskalski, "Pornografia" by Jan Jakub Kolski, "Mój Nikifor" by Krzysztof Krauze, "Dom Zły" by Wojciech Smarzowski, "Papusza" by Krzysztof Krauze. And the prizes: two Camerimage Awards – the Golden Frog for photography for the film "Edi" and the Silver Frog for photography for the film "Dom zły"; and seven Eagles, Polish Film Academy Awards, for Best Cinematography.
