"Animation 25" exhibition, celebrating 25 years of animation at the Lodz Film School, has been opened at the Art Centre in the Sienkiewicza Park.

The exhibited works of professors and students represent all kinds of animation starting from traditional techniques of drawings, paper cutouts, clay, sand and puppet animation up to computer and 3D animation. Dr Krzysztof Rynkiewicz, the head of animation at the Lodz Film School, is the curator of the exhibition. As he pointed out "Animation 25" is a multimedia project presenting in a modern way the 25 year long history of the Lodz Film School animation involving the changes in animation techniques starting from "analogue animation" being produced until mid 90ties of the 20th century up to still present "digital revolution".

The exhibition was opened by prof. Mariusz Grzegorzek, Lodz Film School rector, who wished the animation faculty 125 years of fantastic development. - Nowadays animation is one of the most rapidly developing specializations in the school - said the rector. Among the speakers there was Elżbieta Fuchs, City Art Gallery director and prof. Janusz Tylman, rector’s plenipotentiary in charge of school’s development. Dr. Krzysztof Rynkiewicz greeted Lodz animation seniors, professor and students.

- For the past 25 years there have been changes, which could be described as a permanent technological evolution - says Krzysztof Rynkiewicz, PhD., head of animation and special effects faculty. – But one thing remains constant. We are still taking young people on a journey to the land where verbal language is not used, where things, phenomena and emotions have to be identified in a different way. What’s real gets transformed into the unreal through animation film language. It turns out it’s still the same reality but clearer and sharper. In those 25 years many artists made use of the ability to converse with the whole world about subjective perception of life. And what is more important, their artistic work is well received and approved of.

The exhibition will stay open till 8th June.
