The film director, Lodz Film School Rector and Professor, Henryk Kluba, died 10 years ago.

Henryk Kluba graduated from film direction at the Lodz Film School in 1958. Since 1967 to 2005 had been the lecturer at the school. Kluba was the Dean of Film Direction Dept. twice in the years 1978–1981 and 1993–1996, and the Rector of the school in the years 1982-1990 and 1996–2002. In December 1987, Henryk Kluba was granted the title of the Professor of Film Art.

His debut film "Chudy i inni" starring Wiesław Gołas, Marian Kociniak and Fraciszek Pieczka was made in 1966. The film received the Andrzej Munk Prize granted by the Lodz Film School for the best debut. Henryk Kluba appeared in Roman Polanski’s student films and also acted in almost every film he directed himself.

He died suddenly in a hotel room during the 51st OKFA Amateur Film Festival.

Today, Friday 12th June, at 5 p.m. there will be a meeting devoted to Henryk Kluba held at the Museum of Cinematography in Lodz. During the meeting those who knew Henryk Kluba will share their memories of him with the rest of the participants. There will be also student films with Henryk Kluba in them screened.
